coloniser
Foreign land claimer
A coloniser is a person or nation that establishes control over a foreign territory, typically exploiting its resources and imposing authority over indigenous populations.
The term carries strongly negative connotations in contemporary usage, emphasising the harm done to colonised peoples through displacement, cultural destruction, and extraction of wealth.
In modern discourse, coloniser often appears as a pointed accusation: The protesters called the developers colonisers for displacing longtime residents.
This is the British spelling; American English uses colonizer.
