bubbler

Public drinking fountain

A bubbler is a drinking fountain, especially in Wisconsin and parts of New England, where the term is strongly preferred over the more widespread water fountain or drinking fountain.

The word comes from the bubbling action of water rising from the spout.

Outside these regional uses, a bubbler may refer to any device that produces bubbles, such as an aquarium aerator or a type of water pipe used for smoking.
