driftwood
Shore's weathered lumber
Driftwood is wood that has been washed ashore by waves, tides, or currents.
It typically comes from fallen trees, broken branches, or shipwrecks, weathered smooth and bleached pale by sun and salt water.
Driftwood is collected for decoration, furniture, or fuel: The beach was littered with driftwood after the storm.
Figuratively, driftwood suggests someone adrift or rootless: He felt like driftwood, carried wherever life took him.
