engorgement

Distension from filling

Engorgement is swelling from being overfilled with fluid.

The term appears most often in medical contexts: breast engorgement occurs when milk accumulates faster than it drains, and penile engorgement refers to erection.

More generally, anything engorged has become distended or congested: The tick was swollen with engorgement.
