blips
Screen signal flashes
Blips are brief, small signals or irregularities—originally the dots of light on a radar screen marking detected objects.
The meaning extends to any momentary fluctuation or minor disruption: a blip in the stock market, just a blip on the radar.
Something dismissed as a blip is considered too small or brief to matter much.
To blip is to make such a signal, or to edit out briefly: They blipped the profanity from the broadcast.
