Black power is a political slogan and movement asserting racial pride, self-determination, and economic empowerment for Black people.
Emerging in the 1960s United States, it emphasized collective strength and autonomy rather than integration into white-dominated institutions: Black power advocates called for community control of schools and businesses.
The raised fist became its iconic gesture.
