segregationism

Mandated racial separation

Segregationism is the ideology or political stance supporting racial segregation—the enforced separation of races in housing, education, public facilities, and social life.

The term describes both the belief system and the organized advocacy for such policies: Segregationism dominated Southern politics for decades after the Civil War.

A segregationist is one who holds or promotes these views.
