self-love

Valuing your wellbeing

Self-love is regard for one's own well-being and happiness.

The term has shifted from negative to positive connotations—once closer to selfishness or vanity, it now typically describes healthy self-acceptance and care: Self-love isn't selfish; it's necessary.

In older usage, self-love meant excessive concern with oneself at others' expense.
