aortic aneurysm
Dangerous vessel ballooning
An aortic aneurysm is a bulge in the wall of the aorta, the body's largest artery.
The weakened section balloons outward and may rupture, causing life-threatening internal bleeding.
Aneurysms often develop without symptoms and are discovered incidentally during imaging for other conditions.
The surgeon repaired his abdominal aortic aneurysm before it could burst.
