shortness of breath
Difficulty getting air
Shortness of breath is difficulty breathing or the sensation of not getting enough air.
The feeling ranges from mild breathlessness after exertion to severe respiratory distress.
It can signal conditions from anxiety to heart failure, or simply result from intense exercise: I had to stop halfway up the stairs from shortness of breath.
