aneurism
Vessel wall bulge
An aneurism is a bulge in a blood vessel wall, typically an artery, caused by weakness in the vessel.
If it ruptures, the resulting hemorrhage can be fatal—particularly in the brain or aorta.
The standard spelling is aneurysm; aneurism is an accepted variant.
