complacency

Contentment without vigilance

Complacency is self-satisfied contentment that blinds you to problems or dangers.

It suggests being so comfortable with the current state that you stop paying attention or making effort: Success bred complacency, and the company failed to innovate.

The word nearly always carries criticism—complacency is what you accuse others of, or warn against in yourself.
