disability justice
Inclusive rights movement
Disability justice is a framework that views disability rights through the lens of intersecting oppressions—race, class, gender, sexuality—rather than focusing on accommodation alone.
It emerged from disabled activists of color who argued that mainstream disability rights movements centered white, middle-class experiences.
The framework emphasizes collective liberation over individual access: Disability justice asks us to consider who gets left behind when we design systems.
It challenges the assumption that bodies and minds must be "fixed" to have value.
