acidosis
Low pH condition
Acidosis is a medical condition in which the blood and body tissues become excessively acidic, meaning the pH drops below the normal range.
It occurs when the body produces too much acid, fails to eliminate enough acid, or loses too much bicarbonate.
The two main types are respiratory acidosis, caused by impaired lung function, and metabolic acidosis, which results from kidney problems, diabetes, or other metabolic disorders.
Severe acidosis can cause confusion, fatigue, and in extreme cases, organ failure.
