distal
Away from center
Distal means situated away from the center or point of attachment.
In anatomy, the distal end of a limb is the part farthest from the torso: the distal phalanges are the fingertips.
The opposite is proximal.
The term extends to any field where relative position from a reference point matters: distal causes are remote rather than immediate.
