alkalosis
Excessive blood pH
Alkalosis is a condition in which body fluids become excessively alkaline—the opposite of acidosis.
Blood normally maintains a slightly alkaline pH, but when it rises too high, symptoms like muscle twitching, numbness, and confusion can result.
Respiratory alkalosis occurs from hyperventilation; metabolic alkalosis from loss of stomach acid or excess bicarbonate intake.
