achromatic lens
Dispersion-free optical element
An achromatic lens is a compound lens designed to minimize chromatic aberration—the color fringing that occurs when different wavelengths of light focus at slightly different points.
By combining lenses made of different types of glass, achromatic lenses bring two wavelengths into focus at the same plane, producing sharper, clearer images.
Standard in telescopes, microscopes, and camera lenses.
