chroma

Hue's purity measure

Chroma is the purity or intensity of a color—how vivid or saturated it appears, as opposed to how light or dark.

In color theory, chroma distinguishes a brilliant red from a muted, grayish red of the same hue.

The term appears in technical contexts: high-chroma pigments, chroma key (the green-screen technique in video production).
