Aeroflot

Moscow's main carrier

Aeroflot is Russia's largest airline and flag carrier, founded in 1923 as the Soviet state airline.

During the Soviet era, it was the world's largest airline by passengers carried.

The name combines the Russian word for air with the word for fleet.

My grandfather flew Aeroflot from Moscow to Leningrad in the seventies.
