Fabergé eggs
Jeweled Russian gifts
Fabergé eggs are ornate jeweled eggs created by the House of Fabergé for Russian royalty between 1885 and 1917.
Each egg opened to reveal an intricate surprise—a miniature palace, a golden hen, a tiny portrait.
The term now applies to any elaborately decorated decorative egg, or figuratively to anything exquisitely crafted and extravagantly expensive: The car's interior was like a Fabergé egg.
