Warrior
Titled battle participant
A warrior is a person engaged in or experienced in warfare, especially one who fights with skill and courage.
The term carries connotations of strength, bravery, and martial prowess that distinguish it from the neutral soldier: a Spartan warrior, a warrior culture.
Warrior extends to anyone who fights tenaciously for a cause: a warrior for justice, a weekend warrior (someone who pursues intense activity only on days off).
In sports, warrior describes athletes who play through pain or adversity: He's a true warrior on the court.
