Field of Dreams

Iowa diamond fantasy

Field of Dreams is a 1989 American film in which an Iowa farmer builds a baseball diamond in his cornfield after hearing a voice say If you build it, he will come.

That line has become a cultural shorthand for faith that creating something will attract the audience or purpose it needs—often invoked skeptically: That's field of dreams thinking; you can't just build an app and assume users will appear.
