The Natural
Born with talent
A natural is someone with innate talent who excels without apparent effort or training: She's a natural on the piano.
The term implies that skill comes easily, as if born to it.
In baseball, a natural is a player of extraordinary instinctive ability—the title of Bernard Malamud's 1952 novel about a gifted but flawed slugger, later a film.
The phrase sometimes carries ambivalence: naturals may lack the discipline of those who had to work for their talent.
