Hercules
Zeus's heroic son
Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek hero Heracles, famous for his extraordinary strength and his twelve labors—impossible tasks he completed as penance.
The name now serves as shorthand for exceptional physical power or a feat requiring immense effort: It took a Hercules to move that boulder.
A herculean task demands enormous strength or effort. (Lowercase herculean is the adjective.)
