Thomas More
Thomas More was an English statesman, lawyer, and writer who served as Lord Chancellor under Henry VIII.
He was executed in 1535 for refusing to acknowledge the king as head of the Church of England.
More's *Utopia* (1516) coined that word, describing an ideal island society.
He was canonized as a Catholic saint in 1935.
