privy council
Monarch's advisory body
A privy council is a body of advisors to a monarch, historically meeting in private rather than in open court.
In Britain, the Privy Council remains a formal institution, though its practical functions have largely passed to the Cabinet.
Members receive the title "Right Honourable" and are appointed for life: She was sworn in as a member of the Privy Council.
