commonwealth
State for all
Commonwealth is a political community founded for the common good, or the body of citizens constituting such a community.
The term appears in the official names of four U.S. states—Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia—though it carries no legal distinction from "state." More broadly, commonwealth describes any organized political unit or republic: The commonwealth prospered under democratic rule. (Capitalized Commonwealth often refers specifically to the Commonwealth of Nations.)
