polemics
Art of disputation
Polemics is the art or practice of engaging in controversial debate or argumentation, typically involving strong attacks on opposing views.
A polemic is a specific piece of writing or speech that aggressively disputes an established position or attacks an opponent's ideas.
The adjective polemical describes something characterized by such combative rhetoric: His essay was less a thoughtful analysis than a polemical screed.
Unlike civil discourse, polemics tends toward the contentious and sometimes hostile.
