Sudetenland

Czech Germanic region

Sudetenland refers to the border regions of Czechoslovakia inhabited primarily by ethnic Germans before World War II.

Nazi Germany's annexation of the Sudetenland in 1938, following the Munich Agreement, became synonymous with the failure of appeasement policy.

The term now evokes diplomatic capitulation to aggression: Critics called it another Sudetenland moment.
