Solar System

Eight planets' home

The Solar System is our cosmic neighborhood—the Sun and everything bound to it by gravity, including eight planets, their moons, dwarf planets like Pluto, and countless smaller objects.

The Solar System formed about 4.6 billion years ago.

When capitalized, it refers specifically to this system rather than solar systems in general. (Lowercase solar system is the generic term.)
