Siberian tiger

Russia's largest cat

The Siberian tiger is the largest subspecies of tiger, native to the forests of eastern Russia, with small populations in China and North Korea.

Also called the Amur tiger after the Amur River region where most survive.

Its thick coat and large body are adaptations to cold climates.

Once widespread across northeastern Asia, it is now endangered: Fewer than five hundred Siberian tigers remain in the wild.
