jungle cat

Asian wild feline

A jungle cat is a medium-sized wild cat native to Asia and parts of the Middle East, found in wetlands, grasslands, and agricultural areas rather than dense jungle despite its name.

Also called the swamp cat or reed cat.

The term may also refer loosely to any wild cat inhabiting tropical forests.
