Robin Hood
Medieval English redistributor
Robin Hood is the legendary English outlaw who robbed from the rich to give to the poor.
The name now describes anyone who redistributes wealth from the privileged to the disadvantaged, or such actions themselves: a Robin Hood tax on financial transactions, He fancied himself a Robin Hood figure.
The term can be admiring or skeptical depending on whether the speaker views the redistribution as justice or theft.
