Ouija is a board game marketed as a means of communicating with spirits.
Players rest their fingers on a heart-shaped pointer (planchette) that glides across a board printed with letters, numbers, and "yes" and "no," supposedly spelling out messages from the dead.
The movement is usually attributed to unconscious muscle movements rather than supernatural forces: We pulled out the Ouija board at the sleepover.
Ouija board is sometimes used figuratively for any dubious method of divination or decision-making.
