exorcist

Casts out devils

An exorcist is a person who performs exorcisms—rituals to expel evil spirits or demons from possessed people or places.

The role exists across many religious traditions, though in popular culture it's most associated with Catholic priests: The family called in an exorcist after other interventions failed.

The term also applies more loosely to anyone who banishes unwanted influences.
