Friday the 13th is any Friday falling on the thirteenth day of a month, considered unlucky in Western superstition.
The combination of Friday (traditionally an inauspicious day) and thirteen (an unlucky number) creates a date some people genuinely dread: I'm not signing any contracts on Friday the 13th.
The superstition inspired a horror film franchise featuring the masked killer Jason Voorhees.
