Mustangs

Dallas university team

Mustangs are wild horses of the American West, descended from horses brought by Spanish colonizers.

They roam freely on public lands, protected by federal law since 1971.

The word extends to anything with that untamed, American spirit—most notably the Ford Mustang sports car and various sports teams.

A herd of mustangs crossed the highway. (Lowercase mustang is the horse; capitalized Mustangs typically refers to teams or the car.)
