minivans

Suburban carpool staples

Minivans are boxy passenger vehicles designed for families, larger than station wagons but smaller than full-size vans.

They typically seat six to eight people, with sliding side doors and fold-flat rear seats for cargo flexibility.

The minivan became the suburban family vehicle of choice in the 1980s and 1990s, though SUVs have since claimed much of that market: We piled the kids into the minivan and headed to soccer practice.
