Mount of Olives

Ascension site traditionally

The Mount of Olives is a ridge east of Jerusalem's Old City, significant in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions.

In Christian scripture, Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane on its slopes before his arrest, and ascended to heaven from its summit.

The mount has been a Jewish burial site for millennia, with tradition holding that resurrection will begin there.
