Calvary
Jerusalem execution site
Calvary is the hill outside Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified, also called Golgotha.
The name appears frequently in Christian discourse and church names: Calvary Baptist Church.
By extension, calvary (lowercase) refers to any ordeal of great suffering.
Often confused with cavalry, which refers to mounted soldiers. (Lowercase calvary is a crucifixion scene or ordeal.)
