Mexico City is the capital and largest city of Mexico, located in the Valley of Mexico in the country's central highlands.
One of the world's most populous metropolitan areas, it serves as Mexico's political, economic, and cultural center.
The city sits on the former site of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital.
