Menorah

Nine-branched candle holder

A menorah is a multi-branched candelabrum with origins in ancient Jewish tradition.

The seven-branched menorah, described in the Bible, was made of pure gold and used in the Tabernacle and later the Temple in Jerusalem.

It symbolizes divine light and is distinct from the nine-branched Hanukkah menorah, which is lit during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.

The Hanukkah menorah includes eight branches for each night of the holiday and a ninth “shamash” branch for the helper candle used to light the others.

Modern menorahs may be made of various materials, including silver, brass, or ceramic.

The menorah in the synagogue had intricate carvings and seven branches.
