Hanukkah menorah
Nine-branched Jewish lampstand
A Hanukkah menorah, also called a hanukkiah, is a nine-branched candelabrum used during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
Eight branches hold candles representing the eight nights of the holiday, while the ninth—the shamash or "helper"—is used to light the others.
One additional candle is lit each night: By the eighth night, the Hanukkah menorah blazes with light.
Distinguished from the seven-branched menorah of ancient Temple worship.
