unity candle
Joined wedding torch
A unity candle is a ceremonial candle lit during a wedding to symbolize the joining of two families or two lives into one.
Typically, the couple each holds a lit taper and together lights a central pillar candle: After exchanging vows, they lit the unity candle.
The ritual is common in Christian ceremonies but appears in secular weddings as well.
