Voyager 1

Farthest human-made object

Voyager 1 is a NASA space probe launched in 1977 to study the outer planets.

After flybys of Jupiter and Saturn, it continued outward and in 2012 became the first human-made object to enter interstellar space.

Still transmitting data from over 15 billion miles away, it remains the most distant spacecraft from Earth: Voyager 1 carries a golden record with sounds and images of Earth.
