LNG
Supercooled fuel cargo
LNG stands for liquefied natural gas—natural gas cooled to around -260°F (-162°C), at which point it becomes a liquid occupying about 1/600th of its gaseous volume.
This compression makes it economical to transport by ship to regions lacking pipeline access: The terminal receives LNG tankers from Qatar.
LNG has become central to global energy markets as countries diversify fuel sources.
