LGBTQ+ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (or questioning), with the plus sign indicating inclusion of other sexual and gender identities.
The term serves as an umbrella for people who aren't heterosexual or cisgender: LGBTQ+ rights, the LGBTQ+ community.
The acronym has expanded over time from earlier forms like LGBT and LGB.
