cis
Near side prefix
Cis describes someone whose gender identity matches the sex they were assigned at birth—the opposite of trans.
A cis woman was identified as female at birth and identifies as a woman.
The term comes from a Latin prefix meaning "on the same side of," contrasting with trans ("across").
In chemistry, cis describes molecular arrangements where similar groups are on the same side of a bond.
Most of the participants were cis men.
