Irish people

Gaelic Atlantic nation

Irish people are natives or inhabitants of Ireland, or people of Irish descent.

The term encompasses citizens of both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as the vast diaspora—particularly in the United States, Britain, and Australia.

My grandparents were Irish people from County Cork.

Irish identity often carries strong associations with Catholic heritage, though Protestant Irish exist in significant numbers, especially in the north.
