Fionn mac Cumhaill
Fionn mac Cumhaill is a legendary hero of Irish mythology, leader of the Fianna—a band of warriors who protected ancient Ireland.
Pronounced roughly "Finn mac Cool," he appears in countless tales as a hunter, seer, and defender of the realm.
His story includes gaining wisdom by tasting the Salmon of Knowledge.
The anglicized form Finn McCool appears in folk retellings: Finn McCool and the Giant's Causeway.
